The calculator is a planning model, not an electrical design. It keeps the core relationships simple enough to audit.

Power and facility load

GPU or system power is combined with stated auxiliary and networking/storage overhead. IT load is multiplied by PUE to estimate facility load. Design reserve is then applied for capacity planning.

Design load ≠ average operating load.
Design/max values size infrastructure. Average load factor is applied only to monthly and annual energy estimates.

Heat and cooling

Electrical power is treated as heat for a first-pass estimate: BTU/hr = watts × 3.412142. Refrigeration tons are BTU/hr divided by 12,000.

Reverse sizing

Reverse mode calculates whole-system capacity for power (with reserve), cooling, rack space, and rack power density. The smallest capacity determines the largest supported deployment, and any constraints tied at that capacity are reported.

Electrical current

Single-phase current is P ÷ (V × PF). Three-phase current is P ÷ (√3 × V × PF). These outputs are planning estimates only and do not replace system-specific engineering.

Data provenance

Hardware entries carry a source URL, source type, and last-verified date. Where a user-provided specification was not available, the dataset leaves it unspecified rather than inferring it.
